 Another way around the barn...

I think I may have come up with a way to deal with this stupidity. I have the evaluation, I have his history of major problems on the bus, and I have determination.

I am going to call a meeting and get the school to agree that he needs a straight shot bus ride home. I will show the psychologist the report, but it is not for public knowledge. Then they can see where I am coming from.

Hopefully that will solve the problem. I don't want much do I???

Short but sweet today,

 I should change my name!!

Yes, I should... From Granny to One Hot Mama!! I am so angry and upset I could scream!!

School starts here tomorrow. So, I find out yesterday that my oldest grandson has the most messed up transportation situation I have ever heard of.

In the morning it is great. He gets on a bus and rides to school. No problem. Then, our wonderful transportation department lost control of their sanity!! To get him back home they have decided that he is to board a bus at the high school, ride that entire route ending up at the middle school. There he is to get onto another bus and ride that entire route, and switch to yet another bus to finish the ride home. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!

I worked with the department and I was able to get rid of the last bus by having him brought to the school where I work. This is still not an answer, but a start.

Now, we have to remember that this is a young man with emotional and behavioral problems and is already on an IEP with the school district. So now they are going to allow a situation that is a set up for complete failure?? I don't think so. This is the young man that I just found out is very fragile psychologically and is to avoid being put into real stressful situations. Bus rides on the full size buses with all the commotion and noise has always been stressful and extremely hard for him to deal with. This is a documented problem for him. the District is fully aware of the problem. So where is the protection for this special ed student???

OK, I feel a little better. Thanks for letting me vent. I am not one to beat my spouse or kick the dog. So thanks.

 The Big Evaluation...

I just finished reading the results and treatment plan of the evaluation our oldest had to take. In many ways it answers many questions, but then it leaves many unanswered. Maybe I should just leave well enough alone and move ahead. I can not change anything about it; it has already gone to the court, PO and therapist.

The evaluation showed that my 15 year old is actually very immature with an emotional age of about 11 or 12. That explains a great deal to me. The why of why he does some things he does the way he does. He just plain does not present himself as a 15 year old young man. OK, this I can work with.

The tests show that he is a fragile personality, who could develop sever psychological problems if he was overwhelmed with stress. This part scares me. I will want to learn more about this, and the best way to help him deal with this and not develop psychological problems.

This young man has already been through more than most people, in his short lifetime. I am very thankful that he continues to attend church with us and is learning to turn to the Lord with his problems. This will help more than all the medicine and doctors. Oh, I believe in doctors, don’t misunderstand. But sometimes it takes more. I believe this is one of those times.

I know the therapy he will be starting will be very beneficial for him and I pray that he can get to the bottom and deal with most of his emotional scares. I have always known that he has had more problems than were apparent, but I have never known how to find them. Now, I won’t have to worry about that. With two years of intensive therapy I would have to hope that they will be uncovered and addressed.

So, in the long run, I have to be thankful for the legal trouble he got into. Without the trouble, the therapy would never have happened. This may just be the best punishment he will ever have in his life.

God is so Great!!!!

 Can't anyone say Please???

My brain is just completely frustrated. We are raising two grandsons. One is 14 and one is 15. I will refer to them as the oldest and youngest. Of course at this age I am completely stupid and know nothing about anything. That is normal and I know that.

But, since when is it wrong to ask your child to come home before dark when he is out and about on his bicycle??? But, I didn't say please!!! BIG WHOOP!!!

We had a conversation with him and pointed out that when we took him to spend time with his girlfriend, he never said thank you for anything. That just because he was picked up 30 minutes before HE wanted to be, he was rude snotty. Grandpa reminded him that the road runs both ways... The youngest went to his room. He was mad again...

It is so hard to get kids. especially teens, to realize that you worry about them because you love them. And because you love them you are going to put restrictions and limits on them. Personally, I want them to live to become grandparents and enjoy the special stresses I have.

That is what is in my brain for tonight.

Life goes on,

Granny

 Please Remember....

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters...S.T.R.

My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. Seriously.. Please read:

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00p m, Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this...
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR.
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
T * Ask the person to TALK to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE
(Coherently) (i.e. It is sunny out today)
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks , call 911 immediately !! and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
