Parenting again is in small way be the work I do at school with the communities children. I work in the health room and on the playground of an elementary school. I fix the wounds, I even have been know to give a needed hug and to counsel some. I really enjoy my job.
Yesterday I went out to do the afternoon recess. The weather was good and the kids were running every which way. This recess was suppose to be kindergartners, 1st and 2nd. A couple of the 4th grade teachers had taken their class out out for some air. They called them to go in when recess started. Sometime that is a much harder challenge than getting them out. I had to walk part way down to our lower field to chase a few stragglers back to class.
About the time I was just about half way back up the hill a couple of younger children ran up telling me there was a boy laying under the bar up at the Big Toy. I rushed up there and sure enough, there was a boy laying there unconscious. I grabbed my radio and yelled for our Registered Nurse. She came flying!!! We then called 911.
(Talk about tension.. I was so tense that I just got rid of the headache, but my shoulders are still sore. I will be just fine thank you.) Later that night I receive a phone call from our RN. She had just spoken to the boys parent. The child was just fine. No injuries, nothing. Thank you God... Amen...
I saw him at school today. He was right back to the same old kid I have always know. Swinging on the bars and playing hard. It is always amazing to see a child bounce back from normal injuries. It is the not normal that are much harder to deal with.
Hang on to you children and hold them close. They could be gone in a heart beat.
