 Saturday...

I have been running around the stream reading posts. This has not been a good week for lots of us. Let us all be thankful that we are here to complain.

I read an email a long time ago that talked about being thankful for a dirty kitchen, because that means I have a house to live in. Thankful for dirty dishes, as I have food to eat. Thankful for sore feet, it means I can walk and run. And so on. So I try to find the good in the trouble. It always seems to be there.

Sometimes I have been kicked in the shins by God to get me to hush up and let him guide me. Those are really rocky time. I have found that by not trying to run everything my way, things turn out so much better. No, I am not turning into a preacher. I am just feeling a bit mellow. My problem are tiny compared to some. I am very thankful for that.

OK, I will be quiet now. At least for tonight.
Big Hugs to all,
Granny

 TGIF...

What a week. Today I only had one child with a high fever. Much better!! We are on vacation now until the 7th of April. Hopefully the bugs go away.

My student with the allergy is OK. It has turned out to be the consensus that the mother honestly does not realize the severity of what she is and has done. That is even more scary to me. This little one can not count on the person who should protect her, to do that job. This is a real life threatening allergy. It truly is a very scary situation.

Today Billy decided to have a friend buy him a pack of cigarettes. When he came home he sat down on the couch and the first thing he did was put his hand over the pack to hide it from me. Of course I wanted to know what he was hiding. You guessed it, BIG FIGHT!!! I wanted the cigarettes and he was bound and determined he was not going to give them to me. I got the pack and destroyed the cigarettes. He took off. He is safe we know where he is, but that doesn't change anything. G-pa finally got him to come home, but I am again the enemy. You know dirt under his feet.

You see, I am a former smoker. That is really an understatement!! I was a HEAVY smoker, 4 packs a day. OK pick yourself up off the floor. Most of them burnt up in the ashtray. Anyway, I am paying the price now. I have a lung disease. I have to use 3 inhalers daily. Even being around someone who has been smoking hurts. So I would prefer that the boys not smoke!!! But having all the answers, they are going to destroy their lungs too.

That is all for tonight. I need to go to bed and cry.
Love to all,
Granny

Thursday... Yes, I am counting down....

Today was a bit calmer. I still sent 5 students back home. The first one hit my office before school even started!! Poor little thing. She walked in, looked at me like she was going to cry, and said, "I don't feel very good." So I checked her temp and it was 101.6. She was right she didn't feel good.

At the school there are 3 girls on crutches right now. All with foot injuries to their right foot. Now that is down right scary!!! SO, here comes the fun part.... I had 3 other girls come in at different times with ankle injuries, "so called". All of the were faking and I nailed them. Two of them were hinting for crutches... guess what... I don't have any crutches and I would not hand them out anyway. I was not a very nice Health Tech today, just a mean grandma!!!!

Then to top everything off, We have a kinder who is suppose to be allergic to peanuts. At least that is what her paper work states. She even has an EpiPen for he allergic reaction. Well, today she walks into my office and tells me Mom sent me these, can I eat them. At first it didn't click and I told her if Mom put them in her lunch then I would think so. Thank God for her teacher!!! She took them away. In the meantime I was checking her chart and running to the lunchroom. BUT, come to find out from the teacher after school, this mother also gave her a PB&J sandwich. Her first ever!!! These kind of experiments I do not appreciate one little bit. IF that child had gone into anaphylactic shock she could have died!! Needless to say it is a very good thing that I was not face to face with this parent.

But as I said to start with it was a calmer day. I came home feeling not so rushed. One more day, just one more!!!

That is it for today, unless I get a crazy email I want to share. Everyone take care and those who are ill, take double care.

 Wednesday

I am going to give everyone orders to get healthy over the break! I was slammed again today by students with fevers, throwing up, and really bad headaches. this stuff can just go away!!

Our school got new soccer goals. Today we noticed that someone had removed all the bolts from the metal frame. Some, not nice, person was getting ready to steal the goals and most likely sell the metal. That is too low!!! I hope they get caught!! Our kids really enjoy playing soccer at recess. The different ages all play together. It is great. The older ones even help the younger ones.

Only two more days then a whole week to rest. Of course, I will have two people here that will have assignments to catch up on. THEN they can have free time!! That is what happens when you don't do your homework.

Well, I think I am going to go put my feet up and relax for a couple minutes. Then it is off to the kitchen and become the housewife and fix dinner. Somehow since I worked all day that doesn't sound quite fair.... I know too bad!!!

Later,
Granny
