Everything started out normal. A bit on the nippy side but sunny and clear. I can deal with this. The day went on as usual and not a problem developed. It is a good day.

At about 2:30PM the office radioed me as I was out at recess chasing the kids around. It seems that my student with diabetes was crashing.

We try to keep the blood sugar between 100 and 250. Well today this kids started out at 477. I get them water and called the parents. The student has an insulin pump so that is the first move, put the information into the pump and get the insulin going. An hour later she was in the good range again. Then came the 2:30 check... The students blood sugar was at 42. Not good!! They called me in to deal with the situation. I hit the Health Room and found out they had not even given her a juice yet. So out with the juice, then a glucose tab. Then I called the parents. All I got was, "If they are still low, I will come pick them up after school."

It is nice to be trusted, and I am glad they do. But, I would have preferred a touch more of a reaction. Granted within 15 minutes this student was back in class and doing great. But a blood sugar of 42?? If this student had been having any trouble swallowing, that would have been a 911 call. No questions asked!!! Oh well, I guess they are more used to the ups and downs of the blood sugar. I am wondering if just maybe this student isn't trying to get sick on me??? Lots of nasty little bugs still running around.

All in all my work day was a normal busy one. I got home and neither of the boys had got home yet. I didn't expect Billy as I knew he had stayed after school for a Math Tutoring class. YES!!! I let him know i was very proud of him.

But, Branden had taken off to a friend's house without letting anyone know. We tracked him down and G-pa went and made him come home. He has not earned any privileges. Then he made a comment about me taking everything away from him. I told him no, he had choosen to give them up. Of course he had a come back, but I was already gone. My thinking, if you don't do what is required of you, you don't get the extra fun things you want. So sorry!!! Ya know, this is getting easier.

So tonight I sat and watched a couple of my favorite TV shows. I could have been doing something productive, but I wanted to sit. I figured I earned it. I worked all day, went to the store to get somethings for dinner, cooked and served dinner. No, I haven't done the dishes yet. After I finish this.

OK, I have kept my mouth shut and as I figured he is doing nothing. Now that isn't quite true. He is laying in his room reading Anima book after Anima book. G-pa turned in 14 this evening and now I see there is another stack on the dinning room table.

Then, I am talking with the other and I am going through his notebook. WOW, a progress report showing that he is not doing anything in class. I offer to help, I plead, I even cry. But nothing does any good. There is just no way to light a fire under either of them.

So I am going back to my sewing and try to keep myself sane. Neither of them have the slightest clue just how deeply they are hurting me. And I honestly don't think they would care if they did. All either of them want to do is nothing. What a waste!!!!

I have still not said a work about homework to Branden. I know he has some due Monday, but that is his problem. It will make me sad to watch what I know is going to happen, but just maybe this is what is suppose to happen. At least by not saying anything, there has been no fights or stress. I could get used to that.

Branden did ask Billy if he thought he would get his internet today... Billy looked at him and just said, "Do your homework, Dude." Still Branden is doing nothing. I think he is playing his waiting me out game. Not going to work this time. He can use the internet at anytime for homework, just nothing else. So sorry!!!

It has only been since Thursday. I think it is going to take longer before Branden starts getting the message. He can be a very stubborn person. He is only hurting himself, that is what he has to learn. Oh Well.....

Please keep the prayers and good thought coming this way. I don't believe in throw away children and I do not want this one to try to be the first here. I printed out the sermon from Blogstream CC and gave that to him to read. It was a wonderful strong message.

On Thursday when the therapist was here, Branden exploded and walked out. That left the therapist and I to sit and talk. Oh well... He asked me to think about what battles I really need to fight. OK, I will. This also gave the therapist a real good example of Branden's temper and maturity. He was not impressed.

I have decided that since Branden will not do as he is asked concerning his homework, "It is not my problem". He knows what he needs to get done and when it is due. I am not going to say a word. We will just let natural consequences take place. Also there will be "NO" internet except for homework for him. I think that is going to be a privileged he has to re-earn!! Am I a Bitch?? You bet!!!

I am going to focus on Billy and see if I can get him going better. So far he is responding. "A little." But a little is better than nothing. He keeps telling me he wants to try and do better, so I am going to try to support him and be helpful without doing the work for him. He can be a good student, he just has to want to. His depression is making things very hard for him right now...

We got the progress reports on both of them. On Billy's it said that he had not turned in any U.S. History work. He had completed the work for 19 chapters and emailed them into his teacher as instructed. One problem... We had the teachers last name spelled wrong. So they are off in cyberspace somewhere!!! I got the correct spelling, and away they went again. I also made copies of the hard copy I made Billy make of each chapter's work and sent it to the teacher.

Branden went up to the closest Technical Skills Center and had an interview to attend classes there next year. He was accepted. He also wants to take the summer class in the same thing to see if it is what he really wants to do. He will have to give up choir and Spanish 2, if he take the class. Those are the only two classes he is doing well in. Oh well, he will have to figure that one out.

I am hoping to get both of them to take the summer course again this summer. They can earn .5 credit for going for 14 days. How easy!!! Last year Billy got expelled for continuing to bring lighters to a Natural Resources class. They were outside in the woods. NO FLAMIBLES!!! Hopefully this year will be different for him. We are going to get them up to register early so there are better class selections.

Well, that is what is on my brain tonight. My boys, nothing new there. I have been told I worry too much about them. Tell me... How can you do that???

I got up early this morning
and rushed into the day.
I had so much to accomplish that
I didn't take time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me,
and heavier came each task.
"Why doesn't God help me?"
